The DiGiCo S31 Digital Audio Console
Built upon the foundation of DiGiCo’s renowned quality S21 console line, here’s the S31. It’s the latest S Series console, opening even more doors, and enabling increased functionality and accessibility, while still coming in at an affordable price point. With this one, however, there are 31 faders, and (3) 10″ multi-touch screens…and—just like the S21—it’ll still fit in back the of the car!
As with any and all DiGiCo products, audio quality paramount. With the introduction of the S Series, DiGiCo developed a smart concept with the same core FPGA engine algorithms and processing as earlier SD models, all running at 96 kHz, meaning no loss in audio quality or functionality.
Basically, the S31 is a larger version of the S21, with S31’s expanded work surface providing 10 added faders for more control as well as two more multi touch screens for faster access and more visual feedback. It’s ideally suited to situations where more instant control and feedback are critical to the operator. DiGiCo also understands that many engineers prefer to keep their VCAs separate; so now this is easily achieved, without any compromises in your preferred workflow, and with the option of dedicating a section to your VCAs.
Three Touch Screens
Nowadays, touch screens are part of our daily lives, but if you go back to DiGiCo’s digital beginnings, you’ll see that they employed touchscreens within system designs from as long ago as 1997. Continuing their integration, with the advantages of rapid control and user feedback, meant that S31 had to again rewrite the rules. DiGiCo incorporated the latest P-CAP multi-touch screens for clear visual feedback and gesture control, and providing multiple multi-touch screens for enhanced workflow. The S31’s compact triple-screen design provides 10 channel strips per screen, providing the operator with instant feedback and control simultaneously for 20 channels. This amount of instantaneous feedback offers total reassurance when mixing large shows, and the newly-designed drag, swipe and drop channel layout system also makes it simpler for operators to move channels and busses across the surface in order to develop their own custom fader layouts.
